My first photographs were taken with a Kodak Instamatic with black and white film. My subjects were my Barbie dolls. They were perfectly posed, having a picnic outside or riding horses. My subjects now move around a lot more (and have bendable joints, thank goodness). They're perfectly imperfect, real people. I've always loved photographing people. From an early age I understood the importance of making memories and capturing a moment in time through photography, either for yourself to look back on or for future generations to enjoy.
Photography wasn't my first career, but I'm so glad it's my current one. I was blessed to come to a place in my life where I was able to really think about what I wanted to be when I grow up... and I landed here. I'm so glad I faced my fears and took the leap of faith to pursue a lifelong love of mine as a business. Living a creative life is exhilarating and I wouldn't have it any other way.
If you choose me as your photographer, you will invest in someone who takes their job very seriously. I put my heart and soul into every session. I want you to come away from our session with images that really reflect the true nature of those being photographed and, most importantly, for you to FEEL when you look at your images.
I don't strive to be the busiest photographer in town. I'd rather create quality work for one happy customer at a time, learning more about my craft as I go and always improving. I never want to lose my passion for photography and the joy it brings me.
I am playful, intuitive and very patient. Our time together will reflect that. I love to have fun during my sessions! I like to put you at ease. I put my experience as a mother of three, stand-up comedian and volunteer crisis counselor to good use! I want your session to be as painless as possible.
Thank you for your interest in Amy Hendricks Photography. I hope we can work together to capture your memories soon!
